Naace has developed a Next Generation Learning Charter Support Course for personnel who are working with schools to support their progression through the Next Generation Learning Charter, with special emphasis on how to assist schools in achieving ICT Mark accreditation.
The day provided essential support to consultants working with schools who are engaged in work with the self-review framework and working towards the ICT Mark. There is currently good coverage of the UK with over 300 ICT Mark assessors but there is a continuing need for skilled consultants to support schools in their journey - and this course helped meet that need.

Features of the course were:

  • A blended learning approach;
  • Support materials were available for use in the Naace CPD area both on the day of the course and subsequent to the course.

The course was delivered on behalf of Naace by the School House Partnership and held on Friday December 11th at Maple House, Birmingham.

Overview

The conference was recommended for those concerned with giving schools strategic guidance and support in their progress through the SRF and the NGLC.
It was of particular importance to all those concerned with giving strategic guidance and support to schools, including LA strategic managers and consultants. It was not about ICT Mark assessment but it designed to ensure that support providers have a clear understanding of the ICT Mark threshold.

As a result of attending, participants will:

  • Have a clear understanding of the stages of the NGLC
  • Understand the different degrees of strategic support schools might require when moving through the stages
  • Have a thorough understanding of every element of the SRF
  • Be more consistent in their judgements of threshold for the ICT Mark
  • Be able to plan coherent support programmes which integrate the development of schools' effectiveness across elements of the SRF, for schools at different stages of progress through the NGLC

Be able to promote the engagement of schools with the NGLC Target Audience:
Consultants and Advisers who wish to support schools as they work through Becta’s Self-Review Framework (SRF) as part of the Next Generation Learning Charter, hopefully leading to ICT Mark accreditation.

Aims:

  • Ensure that participants understand the Next Generation Learning Charter and where ICT Mark accreditation fits in;
  • Ensure clarity in understanding of the Elements, Strands and Aspects of the SRF;
  • Help participants to ‘understand’ the ICT Mark threshold;
  • Opportunities to discuss how to share this understanding with schools and their stakeholders;
  • Share approaches to engage schools in the process of self-review in ICT, encouraging them to seek ICT Mark accreditation;
  • Introduce the Moodle, course materials and resources for use with schools, forums and discussions for follow-up activities.
