Primary Focus Academic Journal Computer Education Journal Sharing Success e-magazine Naace Newsletter Introduction to NaaceNaace is the professional association for those concerned with advancing education through the appropriate use of information and communications technology (ICT). Members and sponsoring partners of Naace work in the public and private sectors. They come from many diverse backgrounds including teachers, school managers, curriculum leaders, lecturers, local authority advisors, independent consultants, software developers and designers, sales personnel, technicians, student teachers, company managers, national partners and colleagues from commerce and industry.A dedicated team of permanent staff is based in Nottingham to support the Association's activities. Members, sponsoring partners and staff all share a passion for embedding the effective use of ICT into teaching, learning and school management. Primary FocusPrimary Focus is an academic journal published three times per annum. It contains advice, guidance and best practice on the use of ICT in Primary Education across the curriculum and previous editions have covered topics as diverse as:• Embedding ICT in Primary Practice • ICT and inclusion • Interactive Teaching Technologies • New Literacies • Art and Design and Design Technology • Creativity and Challenge • Geography • Citizenship Scope of workNaace is seeking invitations to tender for the role of Primary Focus Editor who has overall responsibility for the creation of the Journal. The scope of the work includes:• Making recommendations for the overall themes of the journal across a year • Planning production schedules • Making requests for and collating articles • Checking copyright/model release issues with reference to images used • Editing and proof reading all articles received • Writing editorial commentary • Liaison with authors, including regular guest contributors • Liaison with Naace core team and web designers • Inputting articles to the Naace CMS • Conforming with Naace style guidance and publishing workflow documentation The initial contract period is for three issues starting with Spring 2008. Computer EducationComputer Education is an online academic journal published three times per annum. It contains diverse research papers, advice, guidance and illustrations of best practice on the use of ICT across all areas of learning and teaching together with software reviews. Previous editions have covered topics as diverse as:• Learning Platforms • Raising attainment through ICT • The use of mobile technologies • ICT and human rights issues • Podcasting, blogs and Web 2.0 in the classroom Scope of workNaace is seeking invitations to tender for the role of Computer Education Editor who has overall responsibility for the creation of the Journal. The scope of the work includes:• Making recommendations for the overall themes of the journal across a year • Planning production schedules • Making requests for and collating articles • Checking copyright/model release issues with reference to images used • Editing and proof reading of all articles received • Writing editorial commentary • Liaison with authors, including regular guest contributors • Liaison with Naace core team and web designers • Inputting articles to the Naace CMS • Conforming with Naace style guidance and publishing workflow documentation The initial contract period is for three issues starting with that for Spring 2008. Sharing SuccessSharing Success is a fortnightly e-magazine that comprises case-study articles, top tips for using ICT effectively in primary education, website recommendations and a variety of teaching plans and other resources. It is available online for browsing and in a 'download to print' format for display on a staff notice board or coffee table, to be slotted into individual staff pigeonholes and stored in a ring binder for future reference. Each edition has a specified theme and is aimed at Primary ICT co-ordinators. The overall focus is on disseminating good practice by sharing success.Scope of workNaace is seeking invitations to tender for the role of Sharing Success Editor who has overall responsibility for the creation of the magazine. The scope of the work includes:• Making recommendations for the overall themes of the magazine across the year • Planning production schedules • Making requests for and collating articles • Checking copyright/model release issues with reference to images used • Editing and proof reading of all articles received • Liaison with authors, including regular guest contributors • Liaison with Naace core team, and web designers • Inputting articles to the Naace CMS • Conforming with Naace style guidance and publishing workflow documentation The initial contract period is for three terms starting with that for Autumn 2007. Naace NewsletterThe Naace newsletter is a weekly electronic communication to the Naace membership. It contains up to date information, advice and guidance as well as regular features. The Naace newsletter is seen by national agencies as a valuable and speedy way of contacting the important group of people who form Naace, and therefore the newsletter is often used to send out important information from organisations such as Becta, QCA, and National Assessment Agency. The newsletter is published on the Naace website, and builds to form a searchable archive. Not only does it serve to report on the work of members elected to serve the Association, and that of the Naace professional team, but also provides a means of sharing information from members who wish to publicise an event, a professional opportunity, research undertaken, or requests for help.During each year there are 42 Naace newsletters, with a further six special editions, which are devoted to news from Sponsoring Partners, and which are often linked to major events such as the Naace Strategic Conference and the BETT exhibition. Scope of workNaace is seeking invitations to tender for the role of Newsletter Editor who will have overall responsibility for the creation of the newsletter, including all actions and editorship. The scope of the work includes:• All actions, activities and administration associated with the production of the Naace weekly newsletter, ensuring the publication to the standards set and agreed with the General Secretary of Naace. This shall be weekly other than at times specified by the General Secretary of Naace • All actions associated with the role of editor of the weekly newsletter • Liaison between Naace and any third party or external body engaged in any aspect of support for the production of the weekly newsletter • All actions, activities and administration associated with the production of the bi-monthly Sponsors Newsletter on behalf of Naace • Liaison with Naace and any third party or external body engaged in any aspect of support for the production of the Sponsors Newsletter • Advise to officers representing Naace on any aspect of the production of the newsletters at any reasonable time. Knowledge and skills• Understanding of the major issues concerning the role of ICT in education• Awareness of the interests of members of the Naace community, both school based and advisory members. • Experience of producing paper based and electronic journals, publications and marketing material; • Editorial skills and an ability to ensure consistent style and use of language across publications and media formats; • Experience and competence to liaise confidently with authors and technical developers; • Production management and workflow skills to ensure that jobs are completed on time and to the necessary quality levels. • An understanding of both the web and print worlds and experience in producing material which can be delivered in print, PDF and web formats Value of the contractThe Association is seeking a best value solution to meet its requirements. Fixed priced submissions should therefore include:• an indication of the amount of time that can be offered in relation to the tasks outlined and the deliverables that can be expected; • a statement of expertise; • a CV for each individual who will be involved in the contract; • an outline of how the interface with the Naace core team and other suppliers would be achieved; • fixed price with suggested payment schedule in arrears.
