We are delighted to advise that our keynote speakers will be Ruth Hammond of Becta, Fiona Aubrey-Smith of Uniservity and Mick Waters, Director of Curriculum at QCA. In addition the day will include an exhibition for delegates, two sets of parallel workshops on gaming, real time reporting, handheld technologies and assessing pupil progress and a very lively lunch. The Naace AGM will follow this conference and there will be prize draw to close. Date and Venue4th October 2008, Techno Centre, Coventry Programme09.00 - 10.00 Exhibition, Registration and Bacon Rolls 10.00 - 10.10 Introduction and Opening remarks - Gareth Davies 10.10 - 10.45 Extending Learning Opportunities - Fiona Aubrey-Smith What do we mean by Extending Learning Opportunities? Whose learning are we referring to? How far, and in which directions, are we doing the extending? Who is making, and benefiting from these opportunities? These key questions and some corresponding thoughts, ideas and examples of current practice will be shared to provide a context and some challenges to think about during and after, the All Members Conference. 10.45 - 11.00 Coffee Break 11.00 - 11.40 Two parallel sessions Gaming - Sara de Freitas Assessing Pupil Progress in ICT - Terry Handley Assessing Pupils' Progress (APP) is the new national approach to assessment that equips teachers to make judgements on pupils' progress, fine-tune their understanding of learners' needs, and tailors their planning and teaching accordingly. QCA have recently piloted this approach in ICT to compliment those already developed for Science, Mathematics and English. The pilot has been greeted enthusiatically by the teachers involved. This session will introduce the methodology and some of the materials developed in addition to hearing from one of the pilot schools about their experience 11.45 - 12.30 Safeguarding Children in an Digital World - Ruth Hammond ICT has opened up a world of opportunity; however we must all ensure that whilst the children and young people in our care enjoy the benefits they are also prepared for the risks. This session will aim to highlight the key policy messages and resources which are available to help safeguard our digital natives! 12.30 - 1.15 Lunch, Exhibition and networking 13.15 - 13.55 Two parallel sessions Real Time Reporting @ Djanogly - Darren Frearson, Djanogly Academy The ‘Real Time Reporting Journey’ covers our current setup in terms of what parents have access to, and how they access it securely. It will cover the problems and obstacles we have overcome along the way and the benefits to the learners, family and school. Using Handheld devises in Key Stage 2 - Ruth Jack Last year Ruth was invited to join a group to look at the use of Handheld devices in and out of the classroom. The project focused on the use of EDA’s at West Stow Anglo- Saxon village near Bury St. Edmunds. The final report is being written up and will be published soon. The presentation will focus on the project and the general use of Handheld devises in schools. 13.55 - 14.10 Coffee Break 14.10 - 15.00 A Curriculum for the Future - Mick Waters Young people learn together; from each other, from adults in school and elsewhere. The challenge for the curriculum is to exploit natural links so that teaching and learning can come together to the benefit of each individual. This session will examine some of the possibilities in the design and presentation of a curriculum for the future. 15.10 - 16.20 AGM 16.25- 16.30 Prize Draw
