All Members Conference 08 - Blog now available

The official All Members' Conference 2008 blog is now available to members and can be found at:

http://amac2008.naaceblogs.org/

Both delegates and those who were unable to attend can post comments on each of the sessions. Perhaps it's a question for the speaker, or a more general comment on what was said. The session posts have been populated with session slides and videocasts where possible.

We are delighted to advise that our keynote speakers will be Ruth Hammond of Becta, Fiona Aubrey-Smith of Uniservity and Mick Waters, Director of Curriculum at QCA. In addition the day will include an exhibition for delegates, two sets of parallel workshops on gaming, real time reporting, handheld technologies and assessing pupil progress and a very lively lunch.

The Naace AGM will follow this conference and there will be prize draw to close.

Assessing Pupil Progress in ICT - Terry Handley

Assessing Pupils' Progress (APP) is the new national approach to assessment that equips teachers to make judgements on pupils' progress, fine-tune their understanding of learners' needs, and tailors their planning and teaching accordingly. QCA have recently piloted this approach in ICT to compliment those already developed for Science, Mathematics and English. The pilot has been greeted enthusiatically by the teachers involved.

This session will introduce the methodology and some of the materials developed in addition to hearing from one of the pilot schools about their experience

11.45 - 12.30 Safeguarding Children in an Digital World - Ruth Hammond

ICT has opened up a world of opportunity; however we must all ensure that whilst the children and young people in our care enjoy the benefits they are also prepared for the risks.  This session will aim to highlight the key policy messages and resources which are available to help safeguard our digital natives!

Using Handheld devises in Key Stage 2 - Ruth Jack

Last year Ruth was invited to join a group to look at the use of Handheld devices in and out of the classroom. The project focused on the use of EDA’s at West Stow Anglo- Saxon village near Bury St. Edmunds. The final report is being written up and will be published soon. The presentation will focus on the project and the general use of Handheld devises in schools.
