Sir Jim Rose is leading an independent review of the primary curriculum. His initial focus was Curriculum Design and Content, including a key issue for Naace members: What should be the position of ICT within the primary curriculum?

Following this consultation, revised versions will be provided on CD-ROMs and made available free to all schools. Here is Naace's response.

The streamlined approach is designed for schools with 'good' ICT. In such a school, there is likely to be less need to use the self-review framework as a development tool so the focus for them might be to have their self-review validated by an external assessor through a more streamlined approach. The assessment process is exactly the same for all schools; it is simply the preparation/approach that is streamlined.

Members are invited to comment on the strategic objectives proposed for this influential body.

A wide range of Primary classroom activities, reviews and resources has been developed and published over the years originally by MAPE and, more recently since the merger in 2004, by Naace.

'Sharing Success' is a monthly e-magazine that focuses on schools' and teachers' use of ICT to contribute to successful achievements. Features freqently focus on recent issues, with the opportunity for Members to post comments directly onto each Article.

Primary Focus magazine is published termly as an online journal. It contains a wealth of interesting articles from practitioners working in the primary sector. Like other Naace publications, we encourage Members to contribute and interact with Articles, the Editor and other Members, with the idea of stimulating points of view within a continuing professional dialogue.

An ICT Co-ordinator in an infant school decsribes how she has set up an after-school Internet Café for children and their parents.

The Social Networking Conference was held at The Palace Venue, Lower Gungate, Tamworth, Staffs, B79 7AF, on Monday 5 November 2007. The aim of the conference was to provide a focus for discussions relating to social networking on the Internet. There were specific references to the educational benefits and potential dangers of social networking, privacy and supervision issues and the legal implications for students and their teachers.
