The next update day for Naace Sponsoring Partners will be held on the 3rd December 2008 at the Ricoh Arena, Phoenix Way, Foleshill, Coventry, CV6 6AQ

We will be updating sponsors on Parental Engagement, Functional Skills and developing the four cornerstones for success in Secondary Schools. There will be an opportunity to network and discuss issues raised by the topics of the day.

BETT is the world’s largest educational technology event, and takes place 14th to the 17th January 2009, at London Olympia. Naace will again have a stand this year (J45) and we want to encourage all members to come along and meet the team that run their professional association and receive your 25 years of Naace membership Freebie.

Naace is delighted to announce that the Annual Strategic Conference will be held in Blackpool from midday 3rd March to midday 5th March 2009 at the Blackpool Hilton. There will be a dedicated Exhibition, a Members night, traditional Gala Dinner, eminent speakers, excellent CPD events and invaluable networking opportunities.

This single day event was planned to bring together users of school MIS systems, support staff and those advisers and consultants who support schools in their use of electronic data for school improvement.

Naace is delighted to publicise the first of many seminars due to be run in the forthcoming academic year. This particular CPD event will be held on the 28th November at Wyboston Lakes and will focus on implementing your learning platform with particular emphasis on how to make your learning platform work with staff and pupils alike.

Social Networking Conference: 5 November 2007

The Social Networking Conference was held at The Palace Venue, Lower Gungate, Tamworth, Staffs, B79 7AF, on Monday 5 November 2007. The aim of the conference was to provide a focus for discussions relating to social networking on the Internet. There were specific references to the educational benefits and potential dangers of social networking, privacy and supervision issues and the legal implications for students and their teachers.

The Byron Review

The Byron Review is an independent review supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Department for Culture Media and Sport. It reviews the risks to children and young people from exposure to potentially harmful or inappropriate material on the Internet and in video games. The consultation in Autumn 2007 called for evidence from all groups and individuals, including children and young people under the age of 18. Naace responded, and Dr Byron's report, published in March 2008, reflected some of our advice.
