Illuminating Professional Development!

Naace is delighted to announce that the Annual Strategic Conference will be held in Blackpool from midday 3rd March to midday 5th March 2009 at the Blackpool Hilton. There will be a dedicated Exhibition, a Members night, traditional Gala Dinner, eminent speakers, excellent CPD events and invaluable networking opportunities. Save the date now!

This year's conference will be held on the 4th October at the Coventry Techno Centre. The aim of the day is to develop delegates understanding of how ICT can be used to extend opportunities for learning.

We are delighted to advise that our keynote speakers will be Ruth Hammond of Becta, Fiona Aubrey-Smith of Uniservity and Mick Waters, Director of Curriculum at QCA. In addition the day will include an exhibition for delegates, two sets of parallel workshops on gaming, real time reporting, handheld technologies and assessing pupil progress and a very lively lunch.

The Naace AGM will follow this conference and there will be prize draw to close.

The Naace Think Tank on ICT dimensions of Building Schools for the Future will take place on Friday 18th July at the Coventry Hilton Hotel.

The main purpose of the day is to consider people's experiences of the BSF programme to date and to develop Naace's own thinking about this programme as a whole in order to inform members and to enable Naace to contribute effectively to future discussion and debate. Outcomes from this event will be published.

Confirmed speakers include John Parkinson, Client Director, Northgate and chairing the day will be Steve Moss, Strategic Director - ICT, Partnerships for Schools

What is Naace25?

In 2009, Naace will be 25 years old. Originally an association of Local Authority advisers, it has adapted and grown to become the professional association for all those working or interested in the advancement of education through ICT. The conference will enable Members to shape the Association's future direction.

The last update day for Sponsoring Partners was held on the 2nd May at the Hilton Coventry.

We are delighted to have Niel McLean, the Executive Director of Institutional Workforce and Development at Becta presenting. Also presentations and discussions surrounding learning platforms. Gerald Daish, Managing Director of Logotron will also be attending and charing a discussion panel to consider Naaces' on going collaboration with Sponsoring Partners

The Byron Review

The Byron Review is an independent review supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Department for Culture Media and Sport. It reviews the risks to children and young people from exposure to potentially harmful or inappropriate material on the Internet and in video games. The consultation in Autumn 2007 called for evidence from all groups and individuals, including children and young people under the age of 18. Naace responded, and Dr Byron's report, published in March 2008, reflected some of our advice.

Social Networking Conference: 5 November 2007

The Social Networking Conference was held at The Palace Venue, Lower Gungate, Tamworth, Staffs, B79 7AF, on Monday 5 November 2007. The aim of the conference was to provide a focus for discussions relating to social networking on the Internet. There were specific references to the educational benefits and potential dangers of social networking, privacy and supervision issues and the legal implications for students and their teachers.
